The Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese, Venerable Canon Eldard Kashanje, has urged religious leaders to set a positive example for the people they lead. Speaking during the installation service of Rev. Edson Nabaasa at St. Luke Kahoko Mitooma Church of Uganda, Ven. Kashanje emphasized the importance of church leaders being role models and actively combating negative behaviors such as drug abuse, domestic violence, and theft.

He also encouraged religious leaders to initiate development projects in their communities to generate income for their churches and contribute to local progress.

Kham Kirakurate, the head of the laity at St. Luke Kahoko Mitooma Church of Uganda, commended North Kigezi Diocese for elevating their church to parish status and praised Rev. Edson for his efforts in promoting spiritual renewal and forgiveness. Kirakurate highlighted Rev. Edson’s significant impact on combating infidelity through his marriage counseling initiatives and his agricultural project, which has seen the planting of over 600 coffee seedlings.

In response, Rev. Nabaasa expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the parishioners and pledged to work closely with them to advance the parish’s development goals. He outlined his priorities, including improving education, and healthcare, and addressing issues such as domestic violence.

Rev. Edson Nabaasa was ordained as one of the first 16 Reverend deacons by the Right Reverend Onesmus Asiimwe, the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, on May 28, 2023.
