The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, has called on Christians to avoid engaging in monetary and hatred-based politics, saying such practices destroy unity and peace among believers.

The Archbishop made these remarks today during his visit to St. Andrew’s Church, Kihihi Archdeaconry, Kanungu District, and emphasized that voters should not allow themselves to be bribed when electing leaders but should choose leaders based on their capacity to deliver services.

Before presiding over the service, the Archbishop laid a foundation stone for the new church, which is still under construction, and planted a tree in the compound as a symbol of preserving God’s creation.

In his sermon, he called on Christians to embrace forgiveness, prayer, and mutual support for their ministers, explaining that these values fall under the three pillars of the Church: ministry to the world, ministry to God, and ministry to one another. He also cautioned against stealing and idleness, urging believers to work hard, eat from their own labor, and put Jesus at the center of their lives.

The Kinkizi Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka, lauded the Archbishop for the message delivered to Christians and for laying the foundation stone for the new church, saying that upon completion, the new church will have a sitting capacity of over 2,500 people.

The Kanungu Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Kinshaba Patience Nkunda, expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for visiting St. Andrew’s Church and encouraged Christians to live according to the message he preached.
