The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has lauded West Buganda Diocese for establishing income generating projects aimed at promoting self sustainability.
Speaking at Sembabule Archdeaconry headquarters in Sembabule District today as he concluded his three days official pastoral visit in West Buganda Diocese, Archbishop Kaziimba said that he was impressed by the Diocesan Bishop Henry Katumba Tamale’s development agenda.
“I led Bishop Henry Katumba Tamale’s retreat when he was going to be consecrated a Bishop not so long ago and I am impressed by what he has achieved so far. He is development oriented and mission focussed.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
He added, “Projects such as Church Plaza in Masaka City, coffee growing campaign, improved Church structures, clergy welfare and investing in mission work will enable the Diocese grow at a very fast rate.”
He further commended Bishop Katumba for exercising his public relations skills to work with everyone irrespective of their religious, cultural or political affiliation.
Archbishop Kaziimba arrived in West Buganda Diocese on Saturday 19th November 2022 after completing his pastoral visit to Lango, Sebei, West Lango and other nineteen Dioceses.
During his visit, the Archbishop laid memorial stones at All Saints Lukaya Church of Uganda, St. Paul’s Cathedral Kako, Kijjabwemi Early Childhood Center, Church Plaza in Masaka City, Kiwenda Girls Dormitory and Rakai Church of Uganda.
He also broke the ground for construction of a six storey building to house classes and dormitories at Kijjabwemi SSS.
Speaking at St John’s Ssunga Church of Uganda where he made an on spot visit to the coffee mother garden and nursery bed, Archbishop Kaziimba called upon people to embrace coffee growing and use the right methods of harvesting and storage.
“I am glad to know that the Katikiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga launched the coffee growing campaign in the Diocese from here. I want to encourage you to grow more coffee and please take its products like Kawa. We should also ensure that we use proper harvesting and storage methods.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
The Archbishop led Holy Communion Services at St Paul’s Cathedral Kako, St Stephen’s Lyantonde Church of Uganda, St Paul’s Rakai Church of Uganda and Sembabule Archdeaconry headquarters.
