Residents of Rukungiri Municipality on Tuesday benefited from a one-day legal empowerment seminar organized by All in One Women’s Association (ALOWA), a human rights organization championing the rights of women and families across Uganda.

The seminar, held at Hotel Riverside in Southern Division, attracted a good number of participants who were trained on issues relating to defending property and lives, land conflict resolution, family laws, and domestic violence.

Masika Phiona, a legal officer with ALOWA, told Boona FM that the organization aims to help communities understand their rights, especially in matters of land and family law.

Kyarimpa Sylvia, a resident of Kirehe Cell in Nyakagyeme Sub County, expressed her joy after attending the seminar, noting that family law and human rights have long been a challenge in her life.

Captain Jerome Ndiho from Kasoroza, Nyakagyeme, also lauded ALOWA for the initiative, saying the teachings were beneficial to all, regardless of gender or age.

Tugumisirize Banabas, the team leader of ALOWA, reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting and protecting human rights in Uganda.

The seminar marks a significant step in community legal awareness, with ALOWA pledging to extend its outreach to more regions across the country.
