Lions Clubs in Uganda have elected Ms. Allen Tush Naturinda as the new Lions District 411B Uganda Governor. Ms. Naturinda was elected during the multiple district (clubs in East African countries of Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Seychelles Islands, and South Sudan) convention held in Naivasha, Kenya, at Lake Naivasha Resort Hotel on Friday.

She will take up office in July 2025, replacing Mr. Benon Kataate, who has been serving as the district governor.

Ms. Naturinda, a lecturer of Music and Drama at Makerere University, will be deputized by two vice presidents who were also elected at the same convention, Mr. Byarugaba Kikanu and Prof. Lawrence Mugisha.

The outgoing governor, retired banker Mr. Kataate, acknowledged the growing community challenges in terms of humanitarian needs, hunger, environmental degradation, ailments like childhood cancers and diabetes, as well as growing youth challenges that need trusted volunteers to be tackled.

Ms. Naturinda will be installed at a ceremony to be held in Orlando, USA, in July this year.

Founded in 1917 in Chicago, USA, Lions Clubs International, with a membership of 1.8 million people, is the world’s largest service club organization, followed by Rotary International. The organization has been operating in Uganda since 1956.

The club members also resolved to have Uganda divided into two districts, with one to be located in Western Uganda after growing numbers were reported.
