Ms. Annita Turyasiima, Finance and Administration Officer at Adriani Agribusiness Company, has urged communities to prioritize biogas energy to reduce labor demands and promote environmental resilience.
Adriani Agribusiness Company, a non-governmental organization based in Ntungamo District, advocates for household cleanliness, enhanced agriculture, and environmental sustainability through biogas technology imported from Mexico.
Speaking on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, while presiding over the commissioning of the biogas project at Maanige Farm, owned by Maanige Wenceslas, Director of Platinum Classic Suites Hotel in Kitanda Cell, Nyakaina Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, Annita highlighted the advantages of biogas. She noted that biogas is affordable, sustainable, and long-lasting, benefiting soil health, crop quality, microorganisms, moisture retention, and environmental cleanliness. She encouraged communities to prioritize biogas to address issues like excessive expenditure, soil erosion, poor crop yields, and global warming.
Eliab Katwesigye, Business Development Manager at Adriani Agribusiness, emphasized biogas’s ability to create value from waste, including cow dung and rabbit and goat urine, which can be used as manure and feed for poultry and fish after the biogas is produced.
Denis Mutabazi, a biogas technician, assured that biogas networks are durable, health-friendly, and cost-effective.
Moses Twinamatsiko, Maanige Farm Manager, explained that they adopted biogas technology to reduce fuel consumption and streamline the processing of cow dung for manure.
