Police in Kisoro District have intercepted and apprehended a 29-year-old Allied Democratic Force recruit.

The suspected has been identified as Ashiraf Ssempebwa, a resident of Nakabiso village, Kavule Parish, Kiringente Sub-county in Mpigi district, as reported in an official statement released by Uganda Police.

The suspect’s capture was carried out alongside his wife, Nansamba Fatuma, aged 21, and their two children, aged 3 years and 6 months, respectively, as they attempted to sneak into the DRC to join the ADF rebel ranks.

The Uganda Police spokesperson, SCP Enanga Fred, expressed his appreciation to the Joint Security Task Teams for their diligent efforts in arresting the rebel and his accomplices.

He assured the public of the police’s continued utilization of their expertise and capabilities to combat all forms of violent extremism threatening the country.

SCP Enanga applauded the country’s youth for firmly rejecting calls to engage in violent hostilities against their nation.
