The territorial police in Kabale are actively pursuing individuals suspected of being involved in the alleged murder of a 66-year-old businessman named Baguma Amos a resident of Kyamugasha village, Kanjobe parish, Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district.
The incident is reported to have occurred on October 21, 2023, around 10:00 AM, within Kyamugasha village. The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered in his home by a person named Asiimwe Ketty, who was distributing government mosquito nets in the area.
It has come to light that Mr. Baguma Amos had been residing alone in one of his rental properties. On October 7, 2023, he had taken in a male worker without introducing him to his family or local authorities, and they had been living together.
The last confirmed sighting of the deceased by neighbors and tenants was on October 20, 2023, at approximately 3:00 PM when he was seen handling a significant amount of money and paying other workers.
The other worker who had been living with him was last seen returning from the garden later in the evening. However, on the morning of October 21, 2023, both the worker and the deceased were notably absent.
It wasn’t until around 10:00 AM when Asiimwe Ketty discovered Mr. Amos dead in the house, and the whereabouts of the other worker remained unknown.
The local police were alerted, and the scene was thoroughly examined by the Kabale homicide team and the Crime Scene Investigation team led by the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mukama Hakim.
The body of the deceased was removed from the scene and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
