Over 650 million will be spent on the consecration and enthronement of bishop-elect Onesimus Asiimwe as the 6th bishop of North Kigezi diocese according to documents seen by our reporter.
Rev Onesimus Asiimwe the former Chaplain of St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University was elected by the House of Bishops early this year as Bishop of North Kigezi diocese and will be consecrated on Sunday 12th march 2023 at Emmanuel cathedral Kinyasano in Rukungiri district
The North Kigezi caretaker bishop Patrick Tugume Tusigwire in an exclusive interview with our reporter at the North Kigezi diocesan headquarters Kinyasano in Western division Rukungiri municipality yesterday evening said preparations are being finalized for what he called a colorful function.
The consecration ceremony will be led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda His Grace Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, and the former archbishop Henry Luke Orombi will deliver the day’s sermon.
A meeting to coordinate security chaired by the Rukungiri Resident district commissioner Steven Nsubunga Bewayo was yesterday held at the diocesan headquarters.
Nsubuga Bewayo said that several dignitaries will grace the function which will call for the tightening of security at the consecration venue and around Rukungiri Municipality.
The security meeting was attended by the Rukungiri district police commander, The District Internal Security Officer, OC traffic, and all North Kigezi diocesan stakeholders
