609 Christians were on Sunday confirmed as true Catholics through during the sacrament of Holy Confirmation at Nyakibaale Parish in Rukungiri.

A large number of Christians gathered joyfully at the parish premises to welcome the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Calist Rubaramira led the Confirmation Mass.

During his sermon, Bishop Rubaramira used a seed metaphor to describe the Kingdom of God, encouraging Christians to follow Christ faithfully and nurture the seed of God’s kingdom within them, ensuring it grows and bears good fruit leading to the Kingdom of God.

In his remarks, Nyakibale Catholic Church Parish Priest Father Conrad Atuhaire expressed his happiness at presiding over such a large Confirmation ceremony since his arrival at Nyakibaale. However, he also lamented the incomplete state of the new church, which was scheduled to be commissioned during the Bishop’s visit.

Father Conrad appealed to the congregation to cooperate and contribute towards completing the remaining tasks so that the new church could be commissioned before the year’s end.

Addressing the congregation, Mr. Alphonse Byamukama, Chairperson of the Parish Council, thanked Bishop Rubaramira for assigning diligent and dedicated priests to the parish, who tirelessly work to ensure its growth and development.

Byamukama also outlined the various institutions affiliated with the parish, including one seminary school, two government-aided schools, two private church-founded schools, two privately owned secondary schools, one institution, one medical school, one hospital, one health unit, eleven government-aided primary schools, one primary church school, four privately owned Catholic primary schools, and one unit for the hearing impaired.
