Police in Kisoro District have detained a 55-year-old serial opium dealer in Kisoro Municipality. The suspect, Robinah Kyizane of Chahi village, Northern Division of Kisoro, was apprehended along with more than 50 others suspected of committing crimes during late-night hours.

Inspector of Police Arinaitwe Boaz, Kisoro’s Community Liaison Officer, reported that the arrests were made over the weekend at various locations around Kisoro town based on police intelligence.

Boaz emphasized the importance of community members engaging in lawful activities instead of turning to illegal practices like opium dealing, which is prohibited under Ugandan law.

Meanwhile, Kisoro District LCV Vice Chairperson Nabajimana Alex urged the public to collaborate with police and local leaders in efforts to combat crime. He encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station.

However, some of the detainees claimed they were taken from their residences by the police.
