The bustling town of Rukungiri came to a standstill as Boona FM celebrated its 7th anniversary with an eventful extravaganza that drew massive crowds to the Rukungiri Main Stadium. The celebration, dubbed “Ekigutuuro,” was a spectacular fusion of music, family fun, and economic boon, marking a memorable milestone for the beloved radio station.

Star-Studded Musical Extravaganza

The event’s highlight was undoubtedly the star-studded musical performances that left the revelers yearning for more. A lineup of local and national musicians graced the stage, delivering electrifying performances that echoed across the stadium. The energy was palpable as the crowd danced and sang along to their favorite hits. From the soulful melodies of local artists to the high-energy performances by national stars like Jose Chameleon and Queen Sheebah.

Kids Day Out

While the adults reveled in the music, the young ones had their share of fun with the Kids Day Out. The stadium’s grounds were transformed into a playground filled with games, rides, and entertainment tailored for children. Faces painted with colorful designs, children enjoyed bouncing castles, face painting, and a variety of games, ensuring that the younger attendees had a day to remember. The laughter and joy of the children added a heartwarming touch to the anniversary celebrations.

Anniversary Walk

The festivities commenced with a significant Anniversary Walk, led by the North Kigezi Diocese Bishop, represented by the Diocesan Secretary. The walk symbolized unity and progress, reflecting Boona FM’s journey and its impact on the community over the past seven years. Participants from all walks of life joined the walk, showcasing a spirit of togetherness and support for the radio station that has become a cornerstone of Rukungiri’s media landscape.

Economic Impact

Local businesses experienced a windfall as the event attracted thousands of attendees. Bars & Hotel owners reported unprecedented sales, with many running out of stock due to the overwhelming demand. All vendors, and service providers reaped the benefits of the increased foot traffic. Some businesses were left scrambling to restock as their supplies were quickly exhausted, highlighting the significant economic boost the event brought to the local economy.

Community Spirit

The 7th-anniversary celebration of Boona FM was more than just an event; it was a testament to the radio station’s role in fostering community spirit and engagement. As the sun set over Rukungiri, the stadium remained abuzz with the echoes of music, laughter, and celebration. The successful event underscored Boona FM’s enduring connection with its listeners and its commitment to bringing joy, entertainment, and economic vitality to the region.

As the town recovers from the excitement, one thing is certain: Boona FM’s presence in Western Uganda is stronger than ever, and its future looks brighter with each passing year.
