On Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Rukungiri High Court presided over by Justice Tom Chemutai, a 52-year-old man named Mubeniwe Fred, a resident of Ikuniro in Buhunga Sub, Rukungiri District, was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The conviction stems from a 2019 case in which Mubeniwe Fred was found guilty of defiling a minor.
The prosecution successfully demonstrated that Mubeniwe Fred, while employed at the residence of Dr. Asaph Byamugisha in Kahangiro Cell, Nyeibingo Parish, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District, committed the heinous act of defiling a 4-year-old minor.
Justice Tom Chemutai strongly condemned Mubeniwe Fred for deliberately wasting the court’s time, considering the defendant’s awareness of his guilt.
Consequently, Mubeniwe Fred received a sentence of 50 years, with a deduction of 4 years, 8 months, and 17 days already served on remand.
