Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 4 year old Joan Ashaba, a pupil and a daughter of one Sharon Rusiki who was allegedly murdered by her biological father one Robert Kabakyenga 43 aresident of Bugiri village, Nyamigoye parish, Kanyantorogo subcounty in Kanungu district.
Elly maate the Kigezi region police spokesman explains that that on 03/11/2022 at around 22:00hrs, the victim was assaulted by the father for no reason after which, she was rushed to Bugiri health center 3 for treatment but she was pronounced dead moments later.
The death was reported to police by the mother of deceased and the suspect handed over himself to Kanyantorogo police post for safe custody.
Scene was visited and processed, postmoterm done at Bugiri Health center 3 and body handed over to the relatives for burial.
The suspect is believed to be having temporary mental illness as revealed by medical report.
