Police in Rukungiri have arrested four suspects for questioning, over the alleged suspected murder of 43-year-old Martin Tindimwebwa a motorcyclist and resident of Rugyendwa village Kyamakanda parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman says the deceased was last seen at Rugyendwa pub yesterday 19/09/2022 at around 8:00AM and today 20/09/ 2022 at around 07:00AM, school-going children discovered his body lying in a stream along Omukikazi to Omukayaga trading center about 150-meters to his home,
His motorcycle registration number UEB 828Y Bajaj boxer red in color was also at the scene.
They notified the elder brother Moses Niwamanya Itareba who instead of reporting to Police tampered with the scene by removing the body to the home of the deceased for yet an unknown motive.
The incident leaked to the area chairperson Ntwiga Deo who reported an incident of death by drowning at Buyanja police station and Cps Rukungiri was accordingly informed for further management.
Maate says the scene of crime was visited and documented by the DCID/O, and team which established the reported incident to be murder.
The motorcycle, helmet, two phones, and clothes were picked from the stream, the body was picked from the home and taken to Rwakabengo health center III for Postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of the death.
The four suspects in custody have been identified as Niwamanya Moses Itareba who ordered the removal of the body from the scene and alleged to have had a land conflict suspected to be the reason for the murder, Niwamanya Fred 28, Manyumba Denis 40, and Niwagaba Martin 30 .
Maate says the suspects participated in removing the body from the scene.
Inquiries are ongoing.
