Police in Sheema District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old woman in a fatal accident.
The incident occurred on September 16, 2024, in Kaitanjonjo, along the Ishaka-Kagamba road.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the accident, which involved a red B-Boxer motorcycle with registration number UGF 588H.
He identified the deceased as Lilian Akampurira, a resident of Shenga Cell, Burora Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county in Rukungiri District.
According to reports, the rider, who was traveling from Kagamba side, was speeding and failed to navigate a corner at Kaitanjonjo. The motorcycle crossed to the opposite side of the road and crashed into a trench.
Akampurira, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was thrown off and landed by the roadside, dying instantly.
Tumusiime stated that the body was transported to Kitagata Hospital mortuary for a postmortem, and investigations are ongoing.
