On December 23, 2024, 25 couples united under Humura Group in Rwakirungura Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, pledged to strengthen parental care within their families.
This commitment was made during an end-of-year reunion organized by the family of Obed Burasio. The event featured a workshop focused on family management, innovative development practices, farming, and financial discipline. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Henry Ngateireyo, the former LC3 Chairperson of Nyakagyeme, and Ms. Jennifer Tumusimire, the District Probation Officer of Rukungiri.
Peace Musinguzi, a participant and spouse of a group member, commended the workshop for its emphasis on fostering mutual respect among couples, eliminating extramarital affairs, and encouraging income-generating activities to reduce dependency on men for basic needs.
Joshua Mugabe Bakutana, a retired educationist, lauded the workshop for its role in renewing participants’ perspectives and called for greater responsibility in leaving a positive legacy for future generations.
Cornelius Mugasha, representing the group members, praised the workshop for addressing critical issues that undermine family stability. He urged members to cherish women, uphold children’s rights, combat domestic violence, and discourage cohabitation to build stronger families.
Benson Nahwera Ntegyerize, the group chairperson, highlighted the importance of integrity and parental care, urging members to lead by example.
Ms. Jennifer Tumusimire emphasized the significance of hygiene, sanitation, food security, and fidelity within families.
Mr. Henry Ngateireyo stressed the need to combat degenerative diseases through proper nutrition and advocated for financial intelligence as a cornerstone of sustainable family development.
The workshop left a lasting impression on the attendees, equipping them with valuable tools to foster quality families and sustainable livelihoods.
