Police in Kabale District are actively investigating the tragic death of 38-year-old Tumwesigye Deus, who was fatally attacked early this morning at Kyembeho Village, Kaharo Sub County.
The incident occurred around 4:00 AM when the deceased broke into the kitchen of his neighbor, Byaruhanga Alex, and stole two cocks. As he attempted to break in, Byaruhanga saw him through his window and gave chase, raising the alarm for help. Local residents responded to the commotion and apprehended the suspect as he attempted to flee back to his home. In a violent confrontation, the group attacked and fatally hacked the suspect.
The area Local Council Chairperson, Kanyankole Venansio, and the deceased’s sister, Kesande Fausat, were taken into custody to assist police in their investigations. Kabale District’s Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and the Officer in Charge (OC) were immediately notified of the incident, prompting a rapid response from the District Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The body of the deceased was examined at the scene, and a post-mortem examination has been completed. Efforts to apprehend the other suspects involved in the attack are ongoing. The police are committed to bringing justice to the victim and ensuring the safety of the community.
ASP Elly Maate, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kigezi Region, emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order and called on anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
