Residents of Bushunga B village were last evening left in grief after a 17-year-old man  was buried alive by a landslide following a heavy down pour.

The deceased has been identified as Harilimana Julius son of Ngendahimana Silver, a resident of Bushunga A village Busengo Parish Nyarubuye sub county Kisoro district.

Bushunga A village LC one chairperson Sebikali Gregory confirmed the incident and said that the deceased was killed by a landslide during  a  heavy downpour that started at around 5pm last evening and  lasted for two hours.

He said that the deceased was grazing goats at the time of the incident.

Sebikali Gregory said that the body of the deceased was handed over to the family members and the burial is scheduled for today.

He also said that the last evening downpour destroyed several crop gardens, houses and left roads from the area in a sorry state.

 Nyarubuye lc3 chairperson Ndibyariye Ernest Bucholi described the incident  as unfortunate.
