Mr. Emmy Agaba Rubondo, the LC3 Chairperson of Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri District, has urged the youth to move beyond relying solely on their professions for employment and instead utilize available opportunities to generate income.

He made the appeal on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, during a consultative meeting of the newly formed Buyanja Young My Roots Association at the Buyanja Sub County Council Hall.

Youth from Greater Buyanja resolved to establish the association to promote unity and cooperation, foster income-generating activities, enhance financial inclusion, improve welfare, and instill discipline among young people in the region.

Mr. Rubondo commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of separating community development from politics. He encouraged investing in small-scale capital projects as an alternative source of livelihood instead of relying solely on professional employment. He further advised the youth not to depend on inherited wealth but to work hard and build their own financial independence.

Constance Ariho, the Community Development Officer (CDO) for Buyanja Sub County, applauded the formation of the association. She, however, cautioned the youth to avoid factors that often lead to the collapse of such groups, including fund mismanagement, loss of focus after securing employment, alcoholism, immorality, diseases, and theft.

Vianny Ampereza, the Chairperson of Buyanja Young My Roots Association, expressed commitment to the growth and success of the association. He called upon current members to mobilize more youth to join the initiative, emphasizing its potential to transform lives and improve livelihoods.
