Police in Rubanda are currently searching for a man named Silverio, a resident of Karengyere cell in Muko sub-county, Rubanda district.
He is accused of murdering his wife, Grace Brenda Kibibi, who was 27 years old and also a resident of the same area.
According to Kwizera Katasha, a 57-year-old community member in Karegyere cell, the incident took place on January 25, 2024, around 04:00 AM. The alleged murder occurred along the way from a bar at Karengyere trading center, and the motive behind the act remains unknown.
The information was reported to Katasha by a group of Batwa, who are relatives of the suspect. They claimed that Silverio had informed them about the crime and advised them to flee. Around 07:00 AM on the same day, the Batwa group approached Katasha at his home, revealing the shocking news about the murder.
Upon questioning the group about the source of their information, they explained that Silverio himself had visited them, confessing to the crime and urging them to run away. Fearing reprisals from the deceased’s relatives, the Batwa group led Katasha to the crime scene and then fled.
Katasha promptly reported the incident to Muko police station, and subsequent investigations were initiated.
The crime scene was visited, documented, and witness statements were recorded. The victim’s body displayed cut wounds on the head.
Postmortem procedures were conducted, and the body was released to the family for burial.
As of now, inquiries are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder and to apprehend the suspect, Silverio.
