The Archdeacon for Kyabugashe Archdeaconry, Ven. Amos Katushabe, has challenged youths to prioritize discipline if they are to become responsible Ugandans in the future.
He said this yesterday during a one-day retreat at Bishop’s High School Kyabugashe that was aimed at feeding students with the word of God as they begin the 2nd term of 2025.
Ven. Katushabe asserted that the future is not only based on education, but also on good morals that can help one fit into society even during their working years.
He condemned behaviours that he said can jeopardize the future of the youth, such as alcoholism, gambling, pre-marital sex, among others, urging youths to stand aloof from them if they are to become successful Ugandans.
He stressed the importance of education in transforming lives, urging students of Kyabugashe to read hard and ensure good performance since they are in a competitive world.
He said even in school, discipline contributes to one’s academic performance, since there’s no engagement in bad behaviours like escapism, alcoholism, among others.
Additionally, Ven. Amos urged teachers to always participate in Godly activities, noting that their example can lead to God-fearing students.
Alvas Arinaitwe said that owing to these retreats, they have managed to foster discipline in the school, since students are fed with the word of God in addition to advice.
He said it has been their culture to have these retreats and they are eager to maintain them since they contribute to students’ discipline.
A section of students who participated in this retreat hailed school authorities for organizing these retreats, noting that they create a strong bridge between them as students and their God.
They said these retreats bring them back in line with God, urging the administration to maintain them.
