The Kampala Region Commissioner for Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Fred Bamwine, has called upon religious leaders to actively combat poverty among their parishioners in Uganda.
Commissioner Bamwine emphasized that according to the book of Genesis 1:28, God granted humans the authority to populate the Earth, subdue it, and have dominion over nature, emphasizing that it is inappropriate to preach the gospel without also promoting productive work.
He made these comments during a ceremony on Friday where 200 bishops and pastors completed a week-long training in patriotism and development courses held in Omunshenyi Rwentobo, Ntungamo District.
Commissioner Bamwine commended Bishop Stempson Kamwesigye and the National Secretariat for Patriotism Club Uganda for organizing the development course.
RDC Ntungamo, Geoffrey Mucunguzi, urged religious leaders to participate in government initiatives aimed at eradicating household poverty and to prioritize the education of their children for a brighter future. He appealed to them to collaborate and work diligently to increase production.
Bishop Stempson Kamwesigye, the Bishop of Revival Center Cathedral Ntungamo, revealed that the National Secretariat for Patriotism Club Uganda, in partnership with Born Again Pentecostal churches in Ntungamo district, organized the training to sensitize church leaders about the concept of patriotism and inspire them to have a selfless love for their country.
Bishop Kamwesigye mentioned that he was inspired to initiate this training in Ntungamo after completing a patriotism course in Kyankwanzi.
Participants in the training, led by Pastor Robert Mwebesa, expressed their gratitude to the president and the National Secretariat for Patriotism for extending this opportunity to church leaders in Ntungamo.
