The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) – Ntungamo Branch has donated 30 Buffalo bicycles to committed volunteers to support in executing the humanity outreach activities of the organization.
he 30 Buffalo bicycles were recently received from World Bicycle Relief to be distributed through five regional hubs including Soroti, Lira, Gulu, West Nile, and South West – Mbarara/ Nakivale.
While handing over the bicycles to the volunteers as chief guest at Red Cross – Ntungamo Branch offices the mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafuureka Jack Jex urged the volunteers to use them for the right cause to ensure maximum purpose to ease their distances.
Mayor Kafureeka who is also the board member of the Red Cross implored them to recruit more members for its sustainability. The vice chairperson branch governing board Byarugaba Aggery hailed the volunteers for their commitment and zeal which has enabled the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) to recognize them with bicycles.
Byarugaba thanked the branch Manager Tanyebwa Collins and Youth chairperson Asimire Hillary for the work done at the branch.
The treasurer of the branch Rotarian Luyimbazi Boaz tasked them with mobilizing resources for the branch through recruiting new members on board and thanked them for their perseverance and patience to serve humanity.
The Branch Manager Tanyebwa Collins commended the Red Cross secretariat for donating bicycles for the volunteers and a few staff members who normally go to the field.
The Youth chairperson Red Cross Ntungamo Asimire Hillary thanked the long-serving volunteers for serving above themselves and appealed to them to keep the humanitarian spirit for the betterment of the Red Cross and sub-scribe for an annual membership fee of 20,000/=.
