A total of 412 students graduated on Friday at Uganda Christian University-Bishop Barham University College in Kabale District. The gender distribution among the graduates was well-balanced, with 48% females and 52% males. Among the accomplished graduates, one individual earned a Ph.D., while seven distinguished themselves with first-class degrees. Prof. Ezra Suruma, the Chancellor of Makerere University, honored the ceremony as the chief guest.

In his address, Prof. Suruma shared valuable advice with the graduates, encouraging them to embrace qualities of humility and honesty as essential attributes for success in the professional world. He drew from his own life experiences, providing a personal testimony to inspire the graduates in their pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Alice Jossy Kyobutungi, the principal of Bishop Barham University College, stressed the need for the university to upgrade its infrastructure to create a more conducive learning environment. She revealed that the university is currently leasing premises and has only fourteen lecture rooms, posing a challenge in accommodating the growing student enrollment.

In response to these challenges, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, the Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, announced the launch of a 5 to 7-year campaign focused on renewing and transforming the university. This initiative includes beautification projects, the creation of green spaces, and the establishment of modern infrastructure on campuses. Funding for these improvements will come from internal fundraising efforts and collaborative partnerships. Prof. Mushengyezi urged all sister campuses of Uganda Christian University to actively support this initiative, highlighting the importance of standardizing the quality of education across all campuses.
