The Rukungiri office of the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), led by its manager Eng. Alex Asiimwe, has today announced the deployment of a team to disconnect all users of three-phase electricity who have failed to clear their bills within the agreed timelines.

The exercise kicked off this afternoon, targeting especially companies and business-oriented projects that consume three-phase power on a credit basis. UEDCL is urging all affected customers to settle their outstanding balances promptly to avoid disconnection.

Speaking on the matter, Eng. Asiimwe confirmed that the operation is underway, emphasizing that the enforcement is not limited to three-phase users alone. He warned that stern action will also be taken against individuals involved in illegal electricity connections, including those stealing power, impersonating UEDCL staff, vandalizing infrastructure such as wires and transformers, and unlawfully accessing electricity without payment.

He further called on residents to cooperate with the company in safeguarding electricity infrastructure and ensuring reliable and sustainable power supply across Rukungiri District.
