Police in Mukono District have launched intensive investigations into the suspected murder by strangulation of Tumwebaze Pamela, 46, the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU).

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Kawala Racheal, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 11, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m. at the deceased’s residence in Guafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District.

Preliminary findings indicate that at about 2:00 a.m., the family’s housemaid reportedly saw an unidentified man inside the deceased’s bedroom. The suspect was allegedly wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings at the time. He later fled the scene carrying a laptop bag belonging to the deceased.

The housemaid, together with the children, became suspicious and went to check on Tumwebaze, whom they found unresponsive in her bed. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

SP Kawala confirmed that police task teams have since been deployed to the area and investigations are ongoing. Operations are underway to identify, trace, and arrest the suspect.

“We remain committed to ensuring that the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice,” SP Kawala Racheal stated.
