Authorities in Sheema District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a two-year-old child found floating in the Rwamuganga papyrus swamp.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident, which occurred in Kareera cell, Kashozi Division, Sheema municipality.

Reportedly, on the 15th of November 2023, around 4:00 PM, Brave Atwebaza, who was grazing goats on the shores of the Rwamuganga papyrus swamp, came across the body of a male juvenile floating in the water. Atwebaza promptly reported the discovery to the police.

Tumusiime mentioned that the deceased child was located floating in the water close to the bridge connecting Bugongi town council and Kashozi Division. The child was found naked and without any apparent physical injuries.

The police spokesperson added that the body was retrieved and transported to Kabwohe Health Center IV, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
