Police in Buhweju District apprehended two individuals on suspicion of strangling a person to death.

The incident occurred during the night of 03/03/2024, at an undisclosed time, in Kamashengye village, Bwoga Parish, Rwengwe sub-county in Buhweju District.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the occurrence and identified the two suspects as Philipo Atukwase and Flavia Nakato, both aged 45 and residents of the aforementioned address.

Tumusiime further identified the deceased as Ambrose Katwesigye, aged 30, who is suspected to have been murdered by the two individuals for reasons yet to be determined.

It is alleged that on the night of 03/03/2024, around 9:00 PM, the deceased forcefully entered his mother’s house and violently assaulted her. She sought help by shouting for assistance from her other son, Atukwase.

Upon Atukwase’s arrival, he questioned the deceased about his actions towards their mother. This led to a physical altercation between the two brothers, prompting their mother to intervene by restraining the deceased with a rope tied around his hands.

However, on the morning of 04/03/2024, Ambrose Katwesigye was discovered deceased in the kitchen of his brother’s home, with a nylon rope tied around his neck. Marcial Tumusiime stated that while the body displayed no visible external injuries, the neck appeared to have suffered damage. The body was subsequently transported to Nsiika Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
