Training in skills development about the new Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum in agriculture and manufacturing for trainers from farm institutes in Uganda has ended at Rwentanga Farm Institute in Bubaare Sub-County, Mbarara District.

The closing ceremony was presided over by the RDC of Mbarara, Turyabagyenyi Emmanuel Kateera, at Rwentanga Farm Institute in Bubaare Sub-County, Kashari South, Mbarara District.

Turyabagyenyi called upon the trainers, as science teachers benefiting from the enhanced science salary, to be innovative in fulfilling the vision of the president and act as foot soldiers for national progress.

RDC Turyabagyenyi Kateera also cautioned the science teachers against corruption by embracing the NRM ideology of patriotism and economic transformation.

He clarified that the NRM’s approach to combating corruption is based on three principles: enhancing patriotism, changing the mindset of all Ugandans, and enforcing laws to overcome the challenge.

The Principal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ms. Nyiraneza Christine, emphasized that with the increasing demand for employment among the youth, the government needs to equip them with technical knowledge and skills related to agriculture.

She explained that equipping the youth with skills will help protect them from idleness and criminal activities, and instead enable them to participate in income-generating activities.

The Principal of Rwentanga Farm Institute, Mr. William Tukwasiibwe, urged the trainers to target the youth and encourage them to actively engage in agriculture, rather than being mere spectators. He emphasized that they should be players in the development of the sector.
