The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo has cautioned SACCO operators to embark on sensitization towards improving savings culture among their clients rather than borrowing loans.
This was compiled in his speech on Wednesday while giving closing remarks at a one-day training workshop attended by SACCO operators from Rukungiri District and Municipality at the Christ the King conference hall in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
The workshop was organized by District authorities to promote awareness about regulations and compliance with the laws and policies governing SACCO.
Bewayo emphasized that the majority of the SACCO clients are interested in borrowing loans and abandoning savings which is risky.
Tumuhe Boaz of the Micro Finance support center urged SACCO operators to embrace coperation to be able to work together in identifying challenges and finding solutions.
The Rukungiri District Commercial Officer Ferdinand Kamanzi noted that they were properly enlightened about the regulations and compliance towards the laws and policies governing them stressing that if they implement them, services will be better.
