Police in Buhweju District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the suicide of a 27-year-old man, who tragically took his own life by cutting himself.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, identified the deceased as Bagaba John Bosco, a 27-year-old peasant who resided in Nyakakonji Lc1, Butuuro Parish, Karungu Sub County, Buhweju District.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 13, 2023, at around 7:30 PM.
The deceased, Bagaba John Bosco, took a panga (machete), moved to an area behind his house at a distance of approximately 15 meters, and inflicted a severe wound on his neck. This self-inflicted injury resulted in excessive bleeding, ultimately leading to his untimely death.
The matter was reported to the police by Tushabiremukama Garathiano, the deceased’s brother, who was informed by the deceased’s wife, Amutusimire Maria Serena. Their 8-year-old son had witnessed the tragic incident. Following the incident, Amutusimire Maria Serena raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbors, including the deceased’s brother, who then went to Karungu police station to report the incident.
According to the deceased’s relatives, there were no apparent signs of mental health issues, and there were no reported domestic problems between the deceased and his wife.
