On Friday evening, a tragic accident occurred along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road, resulting in the death of one individual and serious injuries to another.
The deceased has been identified as Byamukama Furugyensi, a resident of Kaniabizo cell, Ntungwa parish, Nyamirama Sub-county in Kanungu district.
His body is currently at Kalori Lwanga Hospital Mortuary.
The critically injured individual, who has not yet been identified, is receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Preliminary reports suggest that Furugyensi was a passenger on a motorcycle, which was being driven by the injured person. As they neared Kasi Fuel Station and attempted to turn onto the Kanyinya-Marumba road, their motorcycle was hit by a taxi traveling from Ntungamo towards Rukungiri. The taxi’s registration number is currently unknown as it fled the scene after the incident.
At the time of this report, police had not yet arrived at the location of the accident.
