Bufumbira North legislator, Hon. John Kamara Nizeyimana, has urged the Kisoro United Boda Boda Operators (KUBO) leadership to ensure each constituency has a representative on the committee for the upcoming elections. This move aims to address the growing disputes within the association.
Kamara made these remarks during the Boda Boda annual general meeting held yesterday at Shaaza Ground in Kisoro Municipality. He highlighted the importance of district leaders responding to invitations, especially when the association’s chairperson is presenting an accountability report as his term in office concludes.
The legislator urged association members to focus on development rather than engaging in conflicts, violence, motorcycle thefts, or even murders among themselves.
Kisoro District RDC Hajji Badru Ssebyala cautioned Boda Boda riders against reckless driving, which has resulted in numerous fatalities recently. Ssebyala expressed his concern over the many injured individuals he encounters during his inspections at various health facilities in Kisoro Municipality. He emphasized that adopting safer driving practices would help reduce road accidents.
The chairperson of the association, Robert Kalangala, urged members to prioritize development over fighting for leadership positions. He announced that the date for electing new leaders will be revealed next week. Kalangala noted that since he began his term in 2008, despite the association being established in 2001, he has faced challenges from new associations attempting to undermine the original one, but these efforts have been unsuccessful.
