In a somber turn of events on the night of January 17, 2024, tragedy befell Butogota Town Council as Kato Christine, a 30-year-old Mukiga and casual worker, collapsed and passed away on her way home.
The incident occurred around 9:00PM at Butogota central cell, Southern Ward, in the heart of the town. Rukongi Justus, the Chairman of Lc1 in Butogota upper cell, Western Ward, reported the incident.
According to the report, Christine, who hailed from Nyakirehe cell in the Western ward of Butogota Town Council, had been leaving town when the unfortunate incident transpired. She collapsed, striking her face, and succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Local law enforcement, led by D/AIP Aruho Ronald and his team, swiftly responded to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the victim had already passed away. The area was immediately cordoned off, and the scene meticulously photographed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The deceased’s body has been handed over to her grieving relatives and currently lies in repose at their home in Nyakirehe cell. Disturbingly, it has been revealed that Kato Christine had been battling a prolonged liver disease, evident from her swollen stomach.
Family members shared that she had been undergoing medical treatment at Bwindi Community Hospital.
