Traders at Omukikazi Trading Center, located in Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, are deeply saddened by the mysterious passing of their colleague, Byamugisha Lawrence, affectionately known as Kyampi.

Kyampi, in his early 50s, worked as a cook at St. Gerald’s Secondary School Nyakibale and resided in Omukazi trading center, where he ran a merchandise shop with his wife, originally from Kayungwe Rugyeyo, Kanungu District.

His body was discovered this morning inside his shop room, and residents are speculating that his death may have been either a suicide or due to poisoning, possibly stemming from domestic issues he had with his wife.

Mbareba Benson, Chairperson of the Omukikazi business fraternity and also the Chairperson of LC2 Kyamakanda Parish, confirmed that they are guarding the body to facilitate proper investigations. He suggested that domestic violence may have played a role, noting that efforts to reconcile the couple had previously failed.

As of the time of reporting, homicide police had not yet arrived at the scene.
