A serious road accident in Ndongo Village along Bunyiswa-Katojo Road, Kasese District, has left three young children injured after a Sino truck carrying marram overturned in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports from the Territorial Police in Bwera Division, the accident occurred at around 1:00 AM when a vehicle, registration number UBP 057N, lost control on the rain-slicked road while negotiating a corner. The truck overturned and crashed into the fence of Shalom Junior School, injuring three male juveniles.
The injured children have been identified as Mumbere Brighton (6), Adrati Sixtusi (3), and Mumbere Edrick (3), all residents of Nyakiyumbu One Village. They were immediately rushed to Bwera Hospital for medical attention.
Police officers led by SP Tai Ramathani, the Divisional Police Commander of Bwera, visited the accident scene. The vehicle has since been towed to Bwera Division Police Station for further inspection, while efforts to locate the truck driver—who fled the scene—are ongoing.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially during wet weather conditions, to prevent such tragedies.
Investigations into the incident continue.
