Police in Kanungu have three suspects under detention for questioning on the alleged murder by strangling of 50 years old Hamlet Tusasibwe a resident of Nyamishamba village Rujengwe parish Kayonza sub-county Kanungu district.
It’s alleged that on 3rd of July 2023 at about 07:00 am the deceased son Atuzarirwe Onesmus 12yrs, casual labor (herdsboy) went to check on her mother and found the front door open while behind closed and on calling the body was responding.
He went inside the deceased room and found her dead.
He rushed immediately to inform his elder brothers about the death of the deceased, who responded to the crime scene and they went to inform the community members about the incident.
The deceased was found in a pool of blood lying on her stomach under the bed with strangulation cloth on the neck and fore left side of the head injured by a blunt object.
On information, the deceased has been accused of practicing witchcraft by the community members to the point where O/C Kayonza police post-Corporal Byaruhanga Sam had conducted community policing three times over the said allegations of witchcraft by the community members against the deceased but all was in vain as the community never complied positively.
The crime scene was visited and documented, the body was examined at the place of recovery and three suspects were arrested at the crime scene and detained as others were still at large pending prosecution.
