Police in Sheema District have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of a 57-year-old man. The incident occurred during the night of July 15, 2024, at Nyamushebeya Cell, Kyihara Parish, Kasaana Sub County, Sheema District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the three suspects as Stuart Aturinda, 34, Annet Akankwasa, 50, and Obed Nuwagira, all residents of the aforementioned address.
Tumusiime also identified the deceased as Ezekiel Biryomumisho, 57, a peasant and resident of the same location. Allegedly, the family had been embroiled in disputes over a piece of land that the deceased intended to sell to repay a loan, but the family opposed the sale.
One of the sons, Stuart Aturinda, who reported the case, also had land-related disagreements with his father over where to build a house. He is suspected of being involved in his father’s death after returning home on the night of the incident.
Tumusiime stated that the body was found lying in a coffee plantation a few meters from a village path. The body had scratches on the neck, legs, and arms and was taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.
