Police in Kanungu District have arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged murder of 52-year-old Alex Saturday, a resident of Rwenyerere Village, Kihihi Town Council.

The suspects include Jackline Tushemereirwe, the deceased’s wife, along with Habert Ngurusi and Seperanza Twikyirize.

According to reports, Alex Saturday and his wife had been married for over 20 years and were known to have frequent domestic disputes, reportedly fueled by suspicions that Tushemereirwe was involved in a love affair with Ngurusi Herbert.

On 14th December 2025, around 11:00 a.m., a local resident, Tumuramye Boniface, saw the deceased in the company of his wife and the two family friends heading towards their former home in Kyozi Village. Later in the day, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Alex Saturday was found unconscious in a nearby bush by Mackylin, who had gone to collect food from the garden.

He was rushed to Kihembe Health Center II, where he was pronounced dead. The body was returned home, and the incident was initially not reported to the police. However, by 7:00 p.m., residents had gathered, accusing Tushemereirwe of murdering her husband, and she was subsequently arrested by the LC1 Chairperson of Kyozi Cell and handed over to Kihihi Police Station.

Police officers from Kihihi have documented the scene, and the body has been taken to Kihembe Health Center IV for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

The case is under active investigation.
