The Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasaano in North Kigezi Diocese, The Very Rev. Amasiko Niwegariho, has urged teachers and school proprietors to be exemplary figures for their students by instilling religious values and promoting good discipline.
Rev. Niwegariho shared these remarks on Sunday while leading a dedication service for the primary seven candidates of Kinyasaano Boarding Primary School at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasaano in Rukungiri Municipality.
He emphasized that focusing solely on academic success is insufficient in shaping responsible citizens. According to Rev. Niwegariho, students who exhibit discipline and faith in God are more likely to excel academically. He highlighted that while many students achieve high academic standards, they may later become problematic if teachers emphasize only academics without integrating religious values.
Rev. Niwegariho also encouraged the candidates to stay focused, confident, and place their trust in God. He called upon teachers and parents to lead by example in nurturing good morals, discipline, and a strong foundation of faith in children.
Benard Tumushangye, the headteacher of Kinyasaano Boarding Primary School, commended the teachers for their dedicated efforts in preparing the primary seven candidates. He expressed confidence in the students’ readiness for their final exams, attributing their preparedness to the diligent support from their teachers.
Tumushangye also appealed to parents to create a supportive study environment and provide essential educational materials to aid their children during this crucial examination period.
The primary seven candidates are scheduled to begin their exams on November 6, 2024. A total of 147 students will sit for the exams at Kinyasaano Boarding Primary School.
