The Territorial Police in Kisoro District are actively searching for an SGA security guard, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Musimenta, in connection with the alleged attempted murder of two individuals. The victims, Bizimana Charles, 58, a builder, and his wife, Nyiramugisha Christine, 47, both residents of Mugombero village, Gahiza parish, Nyakabande sub-county, were attacked in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on November 13, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m. when Bizimana Charles, who was sleeping with his wife in their rented house in Chuho village, noticed a light being flashed outside. Upon stepping out to investigate, he encountered Joshua, a security guard with whom he had a long-standing conflict. The suspect, armed with a gun, allegedly shot Bizimana on the right side of his rib.
Responding to her husband’s cries for help, Nyiramugisha Christine rushed to the door, where she was also shot by the suspect, sustaining an injury to her left breast. Following the attack, Joshua Musimenta fled the scene.
The victims were quickly transported to Mutolere Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Emmanuel Habimana reported the incident to the police, prompting officers to visit and document the scene. Key evidence, including two cartridges, a live bullet, and the rifle left with a colleague, was recovered and secured.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was fueled by a long-standing dispute, with Musimenta accusing the victims of practicing witchcraft against his family. Notably, this is reportedly the second time he has confronted the couple at their home.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the suspect are in progress.
