Police in Rubirizi District are investigating the circumstances of the sudden death of a suspect who was arrested on charges of theft.
Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the deceased as Beinomugisha Pascal a resident of Myonyo cell, Nyakagyezi Ward, Katerera town Council, Rubirizi District.
It’s alleged that on Sunday 02/07/2023 at around 1100 am Pascal Beinomugisha was arrested on charges of shop breaking and theft and pushed to police cells.
While in cells, his health condition became worse, and one of the suspects Magezi Benjamin told police officers who removed him from cells and took him to Katerera Health Center III where he was later pronounced dead.
He said the body of the deceased was taken to Rugazi health center IV for postmortem where it was realized that had physical injuries.
Inquiries are ongoing to ascertain what might have transpired that caused his death.
