The Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, has officially retired the St. Matthew Cathedral Dean, the Very Rev. Canon Cranmer Mwesigwa, after he reached the mandatory retirement age. The bishop also announced a series of clerical transfers across the diocese.
Canon Cranmer served as Dean for two years and six months, during which he led the deanery through significant transformation. Prior to this, he served diligently as Archdeacon of Kitunga for over a decade.
As part of the changes, the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Canon Arthur Twinamatsiko, has been transferred to serve as Archdeacon of Rubaare. He will be replaced by Rev. Canon Alfred Turyamureba. Meanwhile, Rev. Canon Yoram Akoragye, who previously served at Rubaare Archdeaconry, will assume the role of Dean at St. Matthew Cathedral.
These clerical changes, which had been communicated two weeks ago, take effect this month.
Preaching during the service held at the cathedral today, Bishop Ahimbisibwe commended the priests for their dedicated service, which he said has played a vital role in the transformation of the diocese. He also called upon Christians to embrace true salvation and to shun the habit of backbiting.
In his farewell remarks, Canon Cranmer expressed his gratitude to the congregation for their unwavering support throughout his leadership.
