Rwampara District police have arrested a man suspected of murdering his father, Tumwesigye Damazo, a resident of Mweya Cell, Nyeihanga Ward.

The suspect, identified as Barnabas, was taken into custody after Damazo’s lifeless body was discovered in a roadside trench on February 22, 2025. Concerned residents alerted the police, who deployed their canine unit to the crime scene. The police dog, Hector, tracked a scent from the scene to Banabas’ home, located approximately 1.5 kilometers away.

A subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery of a black T-shirt with bloodstains, which Banabas’ wife had allegedly taken to a neighbor’s home. Initial investigations indicate that Barnabas and his father had ongoing conflicts.

Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Damazo’s murder.
