Preparations are in full swing for the eagerly awaited National Youth Day celebrations in Kabale District, with a significant focus on ensuring security for the upcoming event.

The festivities are set to unfold this Friday at the Kigezi High School Lower Playground in Kabale Municipality, and the distinguished guest of honor will be none other than President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Under the theme “Accelerating Recovery from Covid-19 and Full Implementation of the 2030 Agenda: The Role of Youth,” this year’s celebration holds deep significance.

It underscores the pivotal role that young people play in overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic and driving progress toward the 2030 development objectives.

In the run-up to the event, various measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees.

All guests, officials, police personnel, service providers, and the select group of journalists tasked with covering the occasion have undergone mandatory COVID-19 testing.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, addressed the media today at the venue grounds, confirming that a comprehensive security apparatus both overt and covert has already been deployed to guarantee a peaceful atmosphere throughout the event.

Maate emphasized that the security forces are fully prepared to take swift action against any individuals attempting to disrupt the proceedings.

He urged the public to extend their support and cooperation, working in tandem with security protocols to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.
