It was an emotional day at St. Andrew’s Rwakirunguura Parish in Kyamakanda Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, as Christians bid farewell to Rev. Joseph Muhwezi, who has been transferred to Rubanga Parish in Buyanja Sub-county.
Rev. Joseph’s transfer to Rubanga Parish marks the end of his three-year tenure at Rwakirunguura. During a farewell ceremony, Mr. Elic Barnard Sabiiti, the Senior Warden of Rwakirunguura Church of Uganda, praised Rev. Joseph for his impactful sermons, transparency, and dedication to development. He wished him success in his new assignment and called on Christians to support and accompany him on January 15, the day he officially leaves.
In appreciation of his service, the congregation gifted Rev. Joseph two cows and other items as tokens of gratitude for his contributions to the parish.
Mackline Sabiiti, the Mothers’ Union leader at Rwakirunguura Parish and District Councillor for Buyanja Subcounty, also commended Rev. Joseph for the positive changes he brought to the parish. She highlighted his developmental initiatives, such as the establishment of coffee gardens, banana plantations, and other productive green projects that have benefited the church. She noted his compassion and motivational guidance, especially for widows and families facing challenges.
Mackline urged Christians to continue from where Rev. Joseph left off and to cooperate with the incoming reverend to ensure the parish’s continued growth and development.
In his farewell speech, Rev. Joseph Muhwezi expressed gratitude to the Christians of Rwakirunguura for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. He acknowledged the difficulty of saying goodbye but assured the congregation that Rwakirunguura would always hold a special place in his heart.
He promised to remain an ambassador for the parish and thanked the congregation for the love they showed him, both when he first arrived and as he departs. Rev. Joseph expressed deep appreciation for the gifts, especially the two cows, and prayed for God’s blessings upon the congregation.
He encouraged Christians to cooperate with the incoming reverend and to continue their commitment to timely completion of their church obligations for the betterment of the church and the community.
