Corporal Natima Daniel, representing the Traffic Office of Rukungiri District, addressed a general meeting of the Rukungiri Taxi Owners, Drivers, and Conductors Cooperative Association. He urged members to consistently adhere to road rules and regulations to prevent accidents, emphasizing the necessity of possessing valid driving permits and licenses. Daniel expressed concern over the lack of proper documentation among many drivers, highlighting the risks posed to passengers.

He stressed the responsibility drivers hold for their passengers’ safety, advocating against overloading and emphasizing the designated seating capacity of fourteen passengers. Moreover, he urged drivers to regularly inspect vehicle mechanical conditions to prevent accidents.

Tayebwa Grace, the Principal Commercial Officer of Rukungiri Municipality, encouraged association members to invest in shares and save money, emphasizing their status as stakeholders. She noted a lack of financial records dating back to the association’s inception in 2018, hindering auditing processes. Grace urged better record-keeping for effective association management.

Additionally, she appealed for forgiveness towards the chairperson, Silage Kabwende, and other board members for past errors, acknowledging their humanity. Members agreed to forgive the board but resolved to elect new committees in the future, hoping to avoid repeating past mistakes.
