The Rukungiri Resident District Commisioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo has threatened to arrest medical workers who are implicated for the theft of government drugs.
Nsubuga was yesterday commissioning a building housing staff quarters at Buhunga health center 4 where he added that several medical workers have been implicated for stealing medicine from government health facilities.
The commissioned building is the former buhunga sub county administration block that was converted into staff quarters for Buhunga health center 4.
According to Eng. Julius Bagira the Rukungiri district Engineer, the project was executed using funds from the central government under the Discretionary Development Equalization Grant (DDEG) that were allocated to works department.
He said that owing to the need for staff quarters, they decided to remold the former sub county headquarters and convert the building into staff quarters.
Mugisha Benon, the Buhunga LC 3 Chairperson says the health facility has been struggling to serve as most of the health workers stay in distant places which makes it hard for them to serve whenever necessary.
