Hon. Constance Tumusiime, the speaker for Rukungiri Municipality, has urged residents to elect and support leaders capable of delivering sustainable services rather than those who resort to giving material bribes for votes.
Mrs. Constance made these remarks while delivering 50 bags of cement to Nyabihinga Primary School, pledged by Counsel Isaac Atukunda during a fundraising event for school infrastructure renovation. She challenged municipal residents to carefully consider candidates in the upcoming elections and support Counsel Isaac based on his track record of service to the municipality, even before assuming legislative office.
Kyomuhendo Peace, the Headteacher of Nyabihinga Primary School, praised Counsel Isaac for fulfilling his pledge made during the fundraising. She expressed confidence that this donation would significantly enhance the school’s infrastructure, providing a conducive learning environment for the pupils.
Hon. Mucunguzi Fred, a district councilor for Eastern Division and Political Assistant to Counsel Isaac, challenged the school leadership to utilize the cement responsibly for its intended purpose. He criticized irresponsible and corrupt leaders who hinder the proper allocation of resources meant for public benefit.
He also encouraged teachers to continue their hard work in shaping the future generation and urged pupils to focus on their studies to become influential figures in the future.
